Nauthiz Rune Meaning

Nauthiz is the second rune of the 2nd aett. The elder futhark is the oldest of the runic alphabets. It consists of 24 letters divided into 3 aetts. There are 8 runes in each aett. The 2nd aett is called Hells aett. Nauthiz upright ~ Need, necessity, self-reliance, dealing with stress, chores, hard work, doing what has to be done, putting in the effort, wanting to change, recognition of one’s needs, resistance, hoping for the best, self-control, constraints, feeling powerless, drama and conflict.

The Mythology of Nauthiz

Skuld is one of three important Norns. The Norns are giantesses that decide the destiny of Gods and men. Skuld is the Norn of the Future. The Norns sit beneath the great Ash tree Yggdrasil and spin the thread of destiny. Skuld is also a valkyrie.

The Meaning of Nauthiz

Nauthiz can be a sign the Seeker has lost some of their sense of self and part of their individuality. Perhaps they have let go of something they later regret. There has been a lesson in awareness when it comes to what is the most important thing. The Seeker could need more space in their lives to think and figure out what they actually believe about things on a deeper level. They could also be at a crossroads. One path leads to the nurturing of the I, the Ego. The other path leads to a new day where the Seeker understands themselves on a deep spiritual level.
